Repeated facial expressions gradually create lines in areas such as the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes. Anti-wrinkle injections work by temporarily reducing the activity of selected muscles, which helps soften these lines and prevent them from becoming more deeply etched into the skin.
You may still hear this type of treatment referred to by the brand name Botox®. At Dr MJ Clinic, we now use Relfydess™, a newer type of botulinum toxin type A treatment.
But the important part isn’t simply which area is being treated. Your facial movement, muscle strength, proportions, and the result you want all need to be considered before our team decides where and how much to treat. That’s why every treatment starts with an assessment.

Anti-wrinkle treatment can be used in a number of areas across the face and neck. Some of the most commonly requested treatments include:
Softens horizontal lines across the forehead while maintaining natural movement

At Dr MJ Clinic, every product and treatment we use is chosen carefully. We use Relfydess for our botulinum toxin treatments because we want our patients to have access to the very latest in anti-wrinkle treatment. Relfydess is known for its fast onset, long-lasting results, and science-backed formulation.
One of the things our patients often want to know is how quickly they’ll notice a difference. In clinical studies, some patients report seeing results within the first 24 hours, with the average onset at around two to three days. Treatment effect has been demonstrated for up to six months, but every person is different so this can vary.
Most importantly, the product is only part of the result. Where it’s placed, how much is used, and how your individual muscles work matter just as much.
A good result should still look like you. Our goal is to soften the movement creating unwanted lines while preserving expression where appropriate. Every patient is different. Some want something extremely subtle, while others prefer a more noticeable result.
Your appointment is about more than just choosing whether you’ll get one, two, or three areas.
We’ll first talk to you about what is bothering you, the result you’d like to achieve, and any previous aesthetic treatments you’ve had. They’ll then assess your facial anatomy and movement before recommending where treatment may (or may not) be appropriate.
If you decide to go ahead, your treatment will be planned specifically around your face. You’ll then be invited back for a review at around two weeks, once the treatment has had time to settle. If an adjustment is needed to achieve the planned result, this will be carried out at your review.

You don’t need to know how many areas you need before you book. Your injector will assess your facial movement and discuss the most appropriate treatment plan with you during your appointment.

Anti-wrinkle treatment might seem simple from the outside, but achieving a balanced result requires understanding of facial anatomy, muscle movement, and how the face changes over time.
Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann has worked in aesthetics for more than a decade and holds an MSc in Aesthetic Medicine from Queen Mary University of London, alongside an array of other postgraduate qualifications. She is also an aesthetic medicine educator, has published peer-reviewed research, and teaches other medical professionals in aesthetic treatment and facial ultrasound at the Aesthetic HUB.
Her approach to aesthetics is built around precision, safety, and treating the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all template.
Dr Charlotte works alongside Dr MJ at the clinic, combining her medical background with advanced aesthetic training and a similarly detailed approach to facial assessment and treatment.

Meet Dr MJ This varies depending on the product used, treatment area, dose, and individual patient. With Relfydess, we typically see results last up to six months in our patients. That doesn’t mean you should automatically expect a six-month result. Your injector will give you a more personalised idea based on your specific treatment area and previous experience.
This also depends on the person, but we typically see results begin to show anywhere between one to three days after treatment. Your full result will continue to develop over the course of the next two weeks rather than appearing instantly.
They don’t have to. The amount used and the muscles treated can be tailored according to your facial movement and the specific result you want. The aim is generally to soften unwanted movement without unnecessarily removing your natural expression.
This isn’t something you need to decide yourself. During your consultation, your injector will assess the areas bothering you and how the muscles across your face interact. One patient may only need a single area treatment, while another may achieve a balanced result by treating several areas together.
Both Relfydess and Botox are brands of botulinum toxin type A, but they are different formulations and aren’t interchangeable product-for-product.
Botox is the name most people recognise because it has been around for much longer. Relfydess is a newer-generation toxin developed by Galderma. What really interests us, though, is its performance. Clinical studies with Relfydess show a rapid onset, with some patients noticing an effect from day one, alongside results that can continue for up to six months.
So while Botox might be the household name, we’ve chosen Relfydess because it’s a more modern formulation, has faster onset, and its longevity make it an excellent option for our patients.
Patients usually leave around 12 weeks between their anti-wrinkle injectable appointments. Some patients leave longer between depending on how quickly their result wears off and their personal preferences.
If you are suitable for treatment and both you and your injector are happy with the treatment plan, it’s entirely possible to proceed at the same appointment. If you decide you want more time to consider your options, there is absolutely no pressure to have the treatment immediately.
No. Your medical history, medications, previous treatments, and individual circumstances all need to be considered before treatment. Your injector will go through this with you and will advise against treatment if it isn't appropriate.
